In commemoration of Ewa Roznerska-Świerczewska

On 19 December it will have been a year since Ewa Roznerska-Świerczewska, a close friend of ours, passed away. She was a renowned painting restorer and a doctor habilitatus at the UMK Department of Fine Arts.

We were friends for over 30 years, but our relationship grew especially close in the recent years when we worked together to restore the interior of Ss. Johns' Cathedral in Toruń. Ewa acted as the chief supervisor to the project. She was very dedicated to her work and never hesitated to share her time or experience. She was always available, helping to resolve our dilemmas and providing unparalleled support. And she did that for no personal gain, working entirely pro publico bono for 4 years. Having fell ill, she did not look for support from others. Gentle and kind, she continued her work. It is especially those qualities - gentleness and kindness – that describe Ewa's personality best. She always tried to avoid offending anyone - even when professional criticism was entirely justifiable. She always took others' feelings into account. Today, we think of her and of our good and carefree time together.

Ewa
